Thank you to all those who took the challenge and tested their poker skills in our Smarty’s Party competition! We are happy to announce our winner — Jonathan Dobbertin, a 24-year-old poker player who is making his way into the world of professional poker. While some may consider him young, his achievements include winning a free 10K seat to the 2006 WSOP Finals after beating thousands of contenders! While he is hoping to win Main Event bracelet, he appreciates the opportunity itself to play against the top players in the world in the biggest poker event in history! Jon plays online and offline improving his results constantly and he is serious about making poker his life, whether it is playing the game or writing about it. While very ambitious, he also has qualities that point to a rational person that can fold KK or QQ when needed… He keeps his balance when bluffing and playing aggressively which allows him to keep discrete. Poker stories this guy could tell must be interesting, read one of them now!

Shawn is not new to the game of poker and his experiences include playing with Scotty Nguyen at the WSOP Circuit Event, winning of over US $4000 at the tournament at Casino Arizona a year ago, chatting with Daniel Negreanu, and discussing poker strategies with Greg Raymer in between playing satellites at last year’s WSOP.
Shawn enjoys playing Omaha Hi/Lo, but he has no doubts that his favorite game is No Limit Texas Hold ‘em as the game of skill that also reveals human nature. While most people he plays with regularly consider him a very aggressive player, he doesn’t like to bluff and always maintains his composure regardless of how the game goes. He enjoys the process of the game and doesn’t like it when it is too easy. That’s why he says he was ‘disappointed’ when he got his royal flush with just a Jack of Spades in his hand with the other four cards on the board.
Shawn keeps his dream to make the final table at a major event, and we wish him luck!
